To find a trainer with authenticity, genuine passion for the topic and who is able to relate the theory to real practical examples is so important. I had confidence that Sylvia would be able to handle our learners and had the background expertise to create a culture of respect in our training room. The entire syllabus was tackled, but this is not ‘text book’ training; we applied the topics to our environment and explored how the subjects would impact our workplace directly. With over 25 years practical experience within the industry, Sylvia and her team, bring to life the subject of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety and have achieved exceptional professional qualifications in their field.

Sylvia is a qualified chef and has achieved a HND in Hospitality Management, a Level 4 in Food Safety and Health & Safety, BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management, Post Graduate Degree in Health and Safety Management and a Post Graduate Degree in CIPD – Certificate in Personnel Development.

Sylvia started her career as a commis chef and has worked through the kitchen brigade up to head chef level. After University she started working front of house as a waitress and progressed up to food & beverage management then into HR training and development and finally to food safety and health & safety training, auditing and consultancy.

 

Sylvia  has worked with many internationally renowned companies during her career including, but not limited to, The Grosvenor House Hotel, Marriott Hotels, P & O Cruise Liners, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Euro Disney Paris, Haagen Dazs, TGI Fridays UK, Taj Resorts & Hotels, Crowne Plaza Hotels, GlaxoSmithKline, LSG Sky Chefs, ITV and Channel 4 Television. Additionally she has catered for special events throughout the UK including Buckingham Palace, Royal Ascot, Kempton Park, Sandown Race Course and Henley Regatta.

 

One of Sylvia’s more notable consultancy roles was working with ITV as their Food Hygiene Expert on a television series called ‘Dishing the Dirt’. The programme required Sylvia to work undercover in the Dominican Republic where she investigated one of the worst cases of food poisoning in recent times involving a thousand affected hotel guests suffering from salmonella, e-coli, campylobacter and shigella.

 

As part of our consultancy service, Anderson Food Hygiene is often asked to contribute to food-related magazines; take part in TV programmes and be involved in large PR campaigns.

 

Sylvia is a Food Hygiene expert for ‘ITV and Channel Four’.

 

Most recently Sylvia was invited to be the Guest Speaker at the famous Guardian Masterclasses a unique programme of learning embedded within one of the world’s most forward-thinking media organisations.

I was so relieved to find a company that was both willing and able to support The Langham, London to train our Senior Brigade to L3 of Supervising Food Safety in Catering. To get all Senior chefs into the classroom for three consecutive days was the biggest obstacle we faced and Sylvia enabled us to remove that barrier and was willing to adapt her usual delivery just for us. To find this level of willingness, understanding and support is a truly rare thing! Sylvia chunked her training into six 3 hour sessions for us, she came to deliver on site and most importantly she kept our learners interested, engaged and enthused throughout.
